This weekend we head to Johannesburg to attend the Mzansi Christian Awards, attend a few conferences and do some interviews. With all the excitement I decided to get a little crazy and do something crazy with my nails. So I contacted Bella Mia to see if they could hook me up. And man, did they hook me up… Being my first time I didn’t know what to expect but when I got there I was met by a truly beautiful and kind woman, Elana Jooste. She is passionate about creating something unique and beautiful while being great company. I just knew she had to share more about her amazing passion for nail art here. Read all about it.
When did your passion for nail art begin?
My passion was first for the arts as I did Graphic art in School. I loved how I could create designs through that medium. God used an encounter with gel to explode a deep passion within me, combining my love for art and people.
When did you start your business?
I started my own business in July this year. There were many obstacles to get to this point but it confirmed my passion by giving me more determination to achieve my dreams.
What inspired/motivated you to start you own business?
This has been such an incredible journey. One that God is still busy unfolding. I want to be faithful with my talent and show my two daughters that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. We needed extra income and with a leap of faith I jumped right into this joy of sharing the gift not only with my clients but also inspiring other therapists to be more creative and daring.
What do you think will be the nail trend this summer?
I believe textured nails will be big this summer.
Stripes and colour blocking will also be making a comeback this season as I’ve been seeing this everywhere. Forme personally I believe that we set our own trends and that’s what makes each nail art design so amazing and trendy!

This passed weekend I went to the lovely ladies conference at CRC Cape Town church, titled #SheIgnites, to represent Fiftyloop. Many times at these conferences no matter how beautiful it is you tend to feel like you are not part of the family. You feel like a visitor. Well at least I have felt like that before. This time round we went and I had this excitement in my heart. We arrived and we were welcomed by friendly faces, fire pits and firecrackers. (Sorry didn’t get a picture of the fire crackers).
The Conference started Friday evening and continued on Saturday. The program included an opening, amazing praise & worship and of course the line up of speakers which included the resident pastor Sharon Jeffery, CRC visionary pastor Nyretta Boshoff, best selling author and pastor at CFC in the USA Wendy Treat and finally Siba Mtongana author and TV chef. Images and comments below…
There was so much action on social media around the conference here are a few snaps from Instagramers during the conference:

When I look around I see so many different women who inspire me for so many differenct reasons. I see women that are dynamite career women, others are amazing mothers and wives, others have overcome great ordeals and others live to make a difference in people’s lives. I love to learn from these women and grow from the wisdom they impart when we spend time together. One of those amazing women is the founder of Jolie Partout (read about it at the end of this article), Natalja Clingen, wife, mother of three, image consultant, overcomer and a heart for the ladies around her. She shared her testimony on a powerful women’s morning and it was beautiful. She experienced so many attempts to steal her joy and her God given purpose but she overcame it all. Today we share some of her heart and wisdom.
What would you like to achieve in the next ten years in terms of passion and purpose?
I love what I do in doll styling with fashion but my heart and purpose is with Jolie Partout. I want to build it to have a bigger reach. To be big enough to have a hub not just to help people in my local community but I want to help people in other areas as well. Beyond just this community.
What would be the ultimate compliment?
Every woman wants to be told that they are such a great proverbs 31 woman but there is one thing that our pastor Janine Bagg mention recently, possibly mother’s day. She said “with the proverbs 31 woman, you are not the whole proverbs 31. It is impossible to be the whole proverbs 31 women”. Unless you are freaking perfect. She said “even if it is just one aspect, you are a proverbs 31 woman”. That sunk in to my heart and I was like ‘Ok, I can actually call myself that.’ before I never thought I could, because I wasn’t everything in the Proverb. But she said “forget that you are a proverbs 31 woman”. I then decided that I was going to take that as a compliment. But most of all I love hearing that I am a good mom and a good wife.
In your job beautifying women and girls, in your experience what is the most common struggle that women deal with?
Self-worth, almost every single one. Has that “I’m not good enough feeling’
What do you tell these ladies to encourage them in dealing with the self-worth issue?
Well, it is best to give advice about things you have experienced before. For me it was spending time with God and getting right with God. To be honest it is the easiest option. I have tried so many times to do it by myself and it doesn’t work.
How do you manage your marriage and family, and keep both relationships healthy?
My husband’s love language is words of affirmation, so I have noticed regardless of how much time I spend with my kids or how much I put into my kids when I give my husband that five minute cuddle before I go to bed. I tell him how much I love him and what a great husband he is. Then his love tank is full. I had to learn what his love language was and what he liked. When I figured out what He liked I learned how to manage my household. I could do whatever I wanted with the kids as long as I knew how to deal with my husband. It just gelled.
What advice do you have for ladies still looking for their passion and purpose?
Go with what you are interested in but don’t shut the door on other ideas or opportunities either. Many times there were opportunities I was not interested in but it was something that I had to do. Dip your toe in each pool and try everything for a little bit. For me there wasn’t this big moment where I knew it was something I had to do. For years I had the question ‘what am I supposed to do / what is my calling’. I didn’t want to do anything because I only wanted to do my calling. For the main part, I was asking God and waiting. But I had to wait because there was a specific time that I had to start and to run with it. If I knew a few years back I probably would have botched it up. I am still learning and I still make mistakes. This is not my project it is God’s so I am taking it slow.

What is your favourite holiday destination in South Africa?
I must say I have had some of my best momories in the Cape, but the Eastern Cape has got some of the best golfcourses that I have enjoyed playing on during holidays.
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive who would you have dinner with? Why?
Smith Wigglesworth, because any man who can sing and get a whole cruse ship to accept the Lord is worth meeting. I believe that the modern day heroes encourage us to press into the presence of God so that we can get the results that the Lord reveals to us in His word.
What album are you currently listening to on repeat?
I’m a Bethel fan, they really have good revelation and an amazing style of worship.
Which local artists inspire you?
Elvis Blue because he is using music to inspire and motivate people with goodnews.
When you are not writing and performing music what do you do?
I’m a fulltime pastor, so I’m always ministering or spending time with people who are in need or who desire more of God.
What was the inspiration for Altyd Daar?
I want to write songs that motivate and inspire people to become what God intended for us to be. We have become so much more because of Jesus Christ and the price that He has paid. Ps 85:5-6 reveals that we are so much more, so the songs reveal that God is with us but that there is more to look forward to because of Him.
What are your three favourite tracks off Altyd Daar and why?
These are the songs that reminds me that we have a future. That He is always there and that He’s love is the reason people change and become who they should be.
How would you describe your music style to people who haven’t heard your music before?
Light praise and worship.
What has been your most memorable moment as a musician?
I’ve had great moments in my career singing with some of the best in the industry at Gospel Skouspel and leading the worship for Angus Buchan with his mghty men events, but the testamony of a person who was suicidal and heard my song “altyd daar” on radio and heard God’s voice and felt His love for the first time in his life blessd me. That’s it right there!!
What is next for Henry Pike?
I would like to minister around South Africa singing and preaching the Word of God and trusting God for manifistations that testifies of the resurection of Jesus Christ.
Where can South Africans expect to see you perform next?
The next big stage is Gospel Skouspel in August (Pretoria – NG Moreleta Park) and September (Cape Town – Grant West)
Day 18 of this fast is already here. Wow, God is and will always be faithful. What the enemy meant to harm the ones who love God, will be turned into something good. As we were focusing on different people and their fasts through the bible, we notice that there is always some type of struggle. The enemy tries to back us in a corner and twist our view of God. So today we want to share three scriptures that no matter where we find ourselves, will always remind us that God is ready to share with us. When we are ready and we turn to God for answers and direction He will answer us.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. – Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV)
Sometimes what we need from God is just a request away, but other times we will need to seek for it or even knock on some doors for it. God’s word reminds us of that, so when we find ourselves in a place of seeking or knocking we are not discouraged, as the bible assured us that those who seek will find and those who knock it will be opened to them. Stay on the job by asking, seeking and knocking.
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.- Jeremiah 29:12-13 (NKJV)
There are times in our lives when we are connected to God. We should always be fully connected to God, but sometimes we get distracted, busy or our desires for this life overwhelm us. When we set ourselves to seek God with our whole heart we will hear from Him because we are quieting all the other voices and influences. It is God’s desire that we find Him but He can only be found when we seek for Him with our whole heart.
3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ – Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)
All the mysteries of the Kingdom and of the universe are locked in God. He knows EVERYTHING. He has the answer to every problem and situation we may face. He says we should call to Him and He will tell us amazing things. God wants to connect with us and He does speak to us. We need to listen to what He is telling us and we need to consistently put our heart in check to ensure He is our deepest desire.
Please let us know what you are experiencing, hearing from God and any testimonies to encourage all our fasting friends via our Facebook page, Instagram or in the comments on the blog.
Have a lovely day friends, remember to check back tomorrow.

Your three must have fashion items for winter
My leather Jacket is an absolute must. It’s the one thing I always keep on me when we travel.
Nice scarf. It is a great accessory.
What is the perfect date?
I like beautiful restaurants in terms of interior, I really appreciate interesting and beautiful spaces and of course there must be good food. That is more than enough for me. I love spending time with my husband, just the two of us.
Are you a cat, dog or no animal person?
No animals, animals are something that needs attention and we are not home a lot. I would rather not have animals than neglect them. When we have kids one day the animals will come.
Boots, sneakers, hills or sandals type of girl?
Boots and sneakers, flat on the ground no heels.
Who has been a role model to you over the years? (Not your mother)
My husband, Iaan, he is my role model. We know each other from the age of seventeen. The reason why he is such a huge role model to me is because we are very similar in certain areas but we are also very different. When we met, the first thing that Iaan taught me is that life is not always the way you see it that is only your perspective on life. I came out of a very privileged home our family was always loving and caring. We are a very close knit family and my family have always been this huge support. As a family we had a certain view of life then I realised with Iaan’s family that it was very different to mine. For example I come from a very small, quiet family and Iaan comes from a much larger, louder family. Coming from two different kinds of families gave me a more colourful view on life, once we became a couple.
Iaan is the one person who can get along with anyone, he can be friends with a five year old and a sixty year old. Everyone loves him. He is so calm, I have ups and downs and he is always quite relaxed. He is the calming factor in my life but also the biggest support. He has taught me a lot and I really respect him. He is the first person who challenged me on my view of entrepreneurship. Both of us ran little businesses as kids and we both had an interest in business from a very young age, but I have no formal business training, so Iaan and I make a great team
What has been a defining moment in your life?
I am a very big dreamer. I am a picture person. Yes I am an A type personality where I want things perfect but I am a creative. With that we tend to dream for the biggest and we want to do crazy stuff but the world tells you it is not possible. You look around you and everyone is negative. The most defining moment for me was one day when I said to Iaan I would really like to start my own business, and then he said well why don’t you do it. I started looking at prices of equipment and I was focused a lot on the problem. I focused on all the things I need and how much it would cost me to get started. He said to me ‘what’s the problem? I don’t understand’. He said ‘never let money be a problem for you. Never let money be the reason why you do something and why you don’t do something’. He said ‘if you really have a good idea and you really believe in what you going to do, money shouldn’t be an issue. You can go to the bank and take a loan. If you really believe in it, you should believe enough to take a loan’. I thought about that and said to myself ‘oh wow that’s actually true’. It has played a role in my business ever since. A lot of times it is not actually money, you just don’t believe in the idea enough to take it further and you end up blaming money, skills or people.
If you could go back ten years what would you tell yourself?
I would definitely tell myself to have more fun. I am quite a serious person and I have been since I was a little girl. I take things very seriously and I think about it. Along the way I forget to have fun because I am so serious about getting the task done or reaching that goal. When I turned 30 it was a huge deal for me, so since I was 29 it was a huge emotional roller coaster ride for me. Oh you are going into your thirties and it’s strange going from your twenties to your thirties. I realised that I had missed out on a lot of fun. I probably would have achieved the same things but just had a bit more fun. Life doesn’t have to be so serious. I read something once on a blog, it said why don’t we all act like children and I thought it was ridiculous but actually if you look at children they have so much fun and they still grow up. As grownups we need to look at not being so serious. I try to teach myself that every day. I laugh at silly stuff and that is something Iaan also tries to teach me. He has an amazing sense of humour. He is helping me with my sense of humour.
What do you think makes a successful marriage?
I think the most important part of marriage is that you are best friends. I knew that Iaan and I were best friend since the first time we were together. I think it’s important to be each other’s supports and cheerleaders in life. You go through times where the other person is dealing with something or excited about something and you need to support each other in both situations. That makes you a good team. We operate as a team. Everything we do from decision making in our personal lives to finances we do as a team. Some people operate as individuals after they get married. They live in the same house and share a bed but operate as individuals, I don’t believe in that.
The day we got married we decided we are one. We have a shared bank account we don’t have individual accounts. We share all the decisions. Operating as a unit is important. You must also know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. We help in each other’s weaknesses and we support each other’s strengths. Where Iaan has a strength I don’t try to take over that area. We work together every day and we don’t fight because we don’t try to do what the other person is good at. We’ve been together for 13 years now and through that time we’ve realised what we’re good at and where our weakness are. In our business we both handle areas that we’re good at and we don’t interfere with the other person. However we also challenge each other, because we believe that’s how we grow as people.

When I started reading the bible I found a few amazing stories that housed miracles I would love to have seen or experienced. There were also the books that spoke about Jesus and disciples and finally the letters and then Revelations. The stories and the parts about Jesus was easy to read and understand logically but a lot of the other parts in the bible was difficult to read and understand. As I grew in the word and started getting a deeper understanding of what the entire bible is about, I spent more time in the word and I actually enjoy it. I realised the whole entire bible is about Jesus. It starts with how we were created, why we needed a Saviour and what the Saviour was going to do on earth. Then He arrived, lived, He was an example for us and finally completed His purpose for being here. Thereafter the bible shares all He did for us through completing His purpose and what is to come. It is amazing. There are sixty-six books in the bible and all of them are pointing at Jesus. I heard about this sort of Jesus directory for the bible where it states how each book in the bible displays Jesus. So I scowered the internet and finally found it and thought I MUST share this with you. It opens each book up in a different way when you read the book in search of Jesus in that book. So try it and let us know how it has worked for you and if it has made a difference in your bible reading time.

Have you been listening to the same old Christian music for the passed two years? Does your playlist need an update? Well here are a few albums we either have and love or we have heard some tracts off the album and going to make sure we get it soon. Whether it is for background music, a serious time of worship, something to listen to in the car or a time of celebration praise, music is essential in our Christian lives. So many times there are songs that we sing with our whole heart unto the Lord but we never wrote those songs. It is amazing to think someone on the other side of the world can put into words what you want to say to the Lord. What a gift these talented individuals posses. They are able to take you from feeling down to being strengthened in faith through faith confessions while singing along to their music or even show you dimensions of God’s love that you haven’t seen or experienced before.
For a long time Christian music was great for praise and worship but it wasn’t the type of music you could just enjoy while driving in your car but in recent years a huge revolution has taken place and Christian music has become lifestyle music. Today you find Christian music in every language and so many different genres from Hip Hop to Rock to Opera to Pop to Dance to your classic Hymns. Everything. Let’s celebrate this awesome revolution of Christian music by purchasing these albums and pushing them to the top of the charts. This is music worth hearing so let’s make sure it’s heard. Excuse my passion and excitement, it’s just Christian music is at a fantastic place right now and I am so excited to see where it goes.
Here are a few awesome albums buy one, buy two or just buy them all.
No Other Name – Hillsong Worship
This year for the first time that I have seen (not that I have ever been to Time Square, YET!) Time Square was lit up with the words “No Other Name” and “Jesus”. What a fantastic celebration of Jesus. Hillsong has done amazing things for Christian Music through the years and have managed to continue exceeding expectations with each album. This is a great album we have reviewed it, so go on give our review a read or just go on their good reputation and buy this album, WE DID.

You Make Me Brave – Bethel Music
When it comes to this album I am pretty speechless. It is amazing, deep, intense and did I mention amazing, deep, intense and did I mention… Ok, I think you get the point. This is a beautiful album that creates an environment of intimacy with God. I have cried, praised, laughed, worshiped and just been ushered into deeper worship with God by these beautiful songs. Get this one, really do. Go listen to some of their stuff on Youtube and see if you like it but my experience was that listening to it on Youtube and actually worshiping God to it is two very different things. My worship has changed with this album.

Wildfire – Citipointe
This album is so versatile, it offers a variety of music. There’s your dance track, which might I add, is one of the best Christian dance tracks I have ever heard. Then there is music you can play in the background or while driving, great for easy listening. Then there is also your praise tracks just celebrating God and your worship tracks. It is a great album. Their previous album Holy Ground is also amazing. This is a great album to have on your ipod, phone, in your car and in times of praise and worship. Do add it to your collections.

Into The Night – Vous Live
I have never heard of these guys before and only started paying attention to them after we sang their song “Your Love” in church recently. I looked into it and found they had an album which was released couple months ago. I am so happy I bought it as this album I found to be such a happy and hopeful album. It is easy listening and a great addition to the albums listed above. I enjoy it as it is so beautiful, gentle, light and fresh. So if you want some freshening up in your playlist, add this. So worth it.

Jesus at the Center – Israel Houghton & New Breed
About.com’s Kim Jones wrote about the album: “knockout punches that leave you smiling and wanting more are what you will get on Jesus At The Center. Compelling songs, larger-than-life passion, awe-inspiring musicianship … this release has it all.” I can’t agree more. It is a mix of pop, modern and soul tracks that are all focused on Jesus. There is a definite move to proclaiming Jesus more in music this year as ‘Jesus at the Center’ and ‘No Other Name’ have the same theme. He is our Saviour and we have been lifting up His name all the time in praise and worship but there is definitely something calling His name to be made bigger in our lives. I am totally on board with that. I want to celebrate His name. I enjoyed this CD and if you enjoy the soulful side of music, this one is for you.
Power Love Sound – Loyiso Bala
I haven’t heard all the tracks on this album but the ones I have heard are amazing. The smooth sounds and the pop style that we have come to know and love from Loyiso Bala has not faded. Ooh what a great album. This is an easy listen and a different spin on Christian music. It actually reminds me of one song I use to love long ago “Shackles (Praise You)” by Mary Mary. It is smooth, has lovely beats to move to and as always Loyiso has impressive vocals. Get this one, it’s good. Plus it is supporting local. Local is lekker after all.

Jy’s Bonatuurlik – Heinz Winckler
Heinz is one of South Africa’s finest and here he offers another great album. This album is a mix of Afrikaans and English tracks that house his great vocals and the beautiful sound that is synonymous with the name Heinz Winckler. The tracks that we have heard off this album are uplifting and encouraging. Get this awesome album especially if you like Afrikaans music.
